Who am I?
My Story
Helen Stubbings
Just a small town farm girl who grew up to be a middle aged lover of all things pattern and making. Helen hails from Tassie in Australia and comes from a very creative background; beginning
adult life as a musician, to creating anything with needle and thread in the Quilting sphere to find herself most at home creating patterns for the therapy of doing and the joy of experiencing.
Thankyou for visiting me here on my site dedicated to my love of symmetry, pattern, repeat and beautiful design. My background is as a quilt pattern designer, embroidery designer, teacher, author and lover of all things with thread and needle. You can see my 20+ years of previous work at my Quilting website Hug ‘n Kisses, and my storefront in Hobart Quarter Inch.
I have previously licensed many designs to the textile & quilt industry with years of experience in how fabric is used, and what makes a good collection for the many uses it can offer.
It’s time to see my lovely patterns on all things with surface – stationary, homewares, home decor, greeting cards, giftware, apparel and wall art. Please contact me to discuss if you have a need or an interest.
I love a softer colour pallette that is calming and beautiful but also acknowledge the need for contrast, scale, perfect repeats and a little brighter edge to my designs. Inspiration and topic comes from my world – my love of all things floral, textures, architecture and the love of my three loves – my girls.
From sketchy prints, to hand drawn motifs inspired by my stitchery, embroidery and applique designs, to geometrics and blenders designed with process and symmetry. I hope you enjoy my pattern and my love of design.
